Pupil Premium

Aims

At Parkend Primary School, we use our Pupil Premium funding to make a real difference for disadvantaged pupils. We focus on both academic and social needs, ensuring support is well-targeted, evidence-based, and regularly reviewed for impact.
Our goal is to close gaps in attainment — particularly in English and Maths — while helping every child to thrive personally and academically.

Our Approach

We follow a three-tiered model to maximise the impact of funding:

  1. Teaching – High-quality teaching and professional development are our top priorities. Excellent teaching benefits every child, especially those who need extra support.

  2. Targeted Support – Small group and one-to-one interventions build on classroom learning to address specific needs.

  3. Wider Strategies – We remove non-academic barriers by supporting attendance, wellbeing and family engagement, ensuring all pupils can succeed.

Our approach is guided by evidence from the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and the Sutton Trust, and we only continue strategies that show real impact.

Barriers and Review

Key barriers include gaps in language and communication, irregular attendance and social or emotional needs.
The impact of spending is reviewed termly and formally evaluated each year. The next review will take place in December 2026.

Eligibility

Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals — and therefore the Pupil Premium — if you receive benefits such as Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance, or Universal Credit (income below £7,400).

Please apply even if your child brings a packed lunch — the funding still supports their learning and wellbeing.
